Patio in progress
During 4th of july weekend my parents went away to Block Island, leaving me free reign over their territories and the chance to make a birthday surprise makeover on the patio, for my step mom. We started the project together by putting in the trellis and planting ivy in the planter boxes, which used to be a hideous yellow. I found some old cans of Ralph Lauren paint to dress up the planter boxes. The neighbor later informed me that this paint was very costly, ops. I think it looks really good, I broke my neck making that faux tile. I needed some way to obscure the view of the parking lot, a free way. So I started collecting palettes. The patio requires a few more for full affect, but they hold pots of ivy and candles nicely, and the ivy should continue growing and envelope the palettes. Future improvements may include enormous grasses or trees, a fountain: (i'm excited about that one) and maybe a panel of trellis to fill in the opening from the neighbors patio to this one.

Gay Blaze Bathing Suit
Gay Blaze Bathing Suit
My mom asked me to finish sewing some cushions for her out of this nauseatingly bright plush fabric.
Bored with the square project, I soon got sidetracked into my own little sewing project. I said to myself
"This fabric would be so much more stimulating in the iteration of super homosexual swimwear. But where would I wear that? Fire Island of course! the super gay blaze color is perfect!"
In a mad inspiration I got to work, mom said to do some practice sewing with the stretch fabric anyway. My project then incorporated the discarded curtain ribbons, which can be repositioned to update the look of the suit. Don't have to change for every tea throughout the day.
Check out the different looks I came up with in my next post.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a model available for the pictures
so I had to model them myself.

Flora Sunglasses
Mossy woodland sunglasses of my own design.
No, these were not ripped off from a Lady Gaga music video like all the super cool kids with their cigarette sunglasses.
But they were inspired by the beautiful opera FLORA! Featuring an amazing lush stage setting with lots of moss and of course foliage.
